Are Cold Press Juicers Worth Buying?

How Many Types of Juicers Are There?

When it comes to cold press juicer, we have four broad categories. They are centrifugal juicers, twin gear juicers, also known as triturating juicers, masticating juicers, which also goes by name slow juicers and cold press juicers often referred to as juice press. Let us take a look at the different juicers in detail.

1. Centrifugal juicer

They are the most typical juicers and also the fastest. Consequently, it saves you both time and effort. It works by passing your vegetables and fruits into a tube. They then face the blade that cuts them into small pieces and also spins them at a rate of 12,000 RPM. Therefore, you don’t have to cut fruits and vegetables.

The centrifugal forces separate the pulp and the juice. The former goes into a basket while the latter goes to another container. It is ideal for a large volume of juice. Equally important, it is pocket-friendly and easy to clean.

2. Masticating Juicers

They are also known as slow juicers. Unlike their former counterpart that shreds your fruits and vegetables with blades, they use a slow auger. The gear crushes them against either a plastic screen or a stainless steel mesh. As the name suggests, the crushing happens at a slow rate of between 80 and 100 RPM. They are most suitable if you want to get the best nutritious value of your vegetables and fruits to your juice.

3. Twin Gear Juicer

From the name, it is evident than these juicers have two augers. Each gear has its own job. The juicer operates in two stages. In the first one, it is all about crushing vegetables and fruits. The other one focuses on pressing the juice out of them. In the process, it releases soluble fiber, vitamins, and enzymes, giving you a juice that is rich in nutrients. They operate quietly and also come in handy when preparing pasta, sorbets, nut butter, and baby food.

4. Juice Press

It is the only true cold press juicer because it has a press. It has other names such as pneumatic and hydraulic juice press. At first, the fruits and vegetables are ground to form a pulp. Then, pressure presses the juice out of the pulp.

What is a Cold Press Juicer/slow Juicer?

cold press juicer

A cold press juicer and slow juicers are the same things. They are also called masticating juicers. Unlike their centrifugal counterparts, the cold press juicers use the masticating method. It separates the juice from fruits and vegetables and, at the same time, preserves their nutrients. The process requires little or no heat at all. That is how they preserve the nutrients. Instead, it is all about crushing the fruits and vegetables and squeezing the juice out slowly. The shake is usually less frothy, and less oxidation takes place. Consequently, you can comfortably store it on the shelf for more than 24 hours. To be specific, it can last for up to 72 hours.

Using a cold press juicer has a number of benefits. First of all, due to the use of little or no heat, al the nutrients, including vitamin C, remain intact. The cost may be high, but the fact that you can make a lot of juice all at once makes it worth every penny. It is also the most suitable option when handling tough leafy greens, including asparagus, lettuce, and spinach.

Its operation is quiet. Therefore, you get to keep in touch with your surroundings, including when your phone rings while juicing. Versatility is also another plus. In addition to making juice, you also get to make kinds of butter, sauces, rice cakes, pasta, and baby food, among others. With all that, one can confidently say without any fear of contradiction that cold press juicers are worth it.

What Points Should You Consider Before Getting Cold Press Juicers?

  • Design

The design of a cold press juice is something you should think about before settling for one. Remember that it is something that you will have to live with for a long time. It is also something that you might have to use often. So, buy something that you can handle today, tomorrow, and the day after. Otherwise, you will find the need to replace it. At the same time, if the amount of space in the kitchen is small, go for a compact one for your own sake.

  • Cost

When it comes to cost, you have to think about two aspects. First, ask yourself the amount of money that you are willing to spend on your cold press juicer. After all, it is impossible to buy something that costs more than you have. At the same time, make sure that what you take home is worth every penny that you spend. Value for your money is something crucial.

  • Speed, Noise, Heat

You don’t want to spend all your time juicing because there are other responsibilities that need your attention. So, ensure that the speed of your cold press juicer is reasonable. At the same time, ensure that it operates silently, or the noise it produces is something your ears or neighbors can handle. Last but not least, the heat it produces should not be too much to the extent that it destroys all the nutrients in the fruits and vegetables during juicing.

  • Size

It should be easy to store after use. Therefore, a size that the available space can accommodate is important. When thinking about the size, the weight is not something that you should take for granted. Otherwise, you will always dread juicing, especially if you think about the thought of having to lift it up at one point.

  • Cleaning time

After use, you don’t want to spend a whole day cleaning your cold press juicer. That’s why you need to buy one that is easy to clean and also fast.

  • Customer services

In case something goes wrong, ensure that the seller offers you guidance on how to go about. For that, you will need great customer services.
